Although years have passed, one of the constant factors of the definition of “attractive woman” image today is undoubtedly an erect, plump, shaped breast form. Breast augmentation surgery, or breast augmentation aesthetics, which is performed more and more widely in the world and has now become an almost completely personalized surgery, is an operation that provides women not only physical but also psychological comfort.
The spiritual change brought about by getting a new look, being “more feminin”, increasing self-confidence and making peace with one’s body are proof that breast augmentation surgery is not only a physical but also a spiritual touch to women’s lives.
What Is Breast Augmentation Aesthetics?
Breast augmentation plastic surgery is the process of supporting the breast tissue with fat injection or breast prosthesis (implants) to make it proportional to the body lines. In the operation, which takes an average of 1.5 hours, the target is to obtain an appearance that does not protrude from the body line, is curved outward and is compatible with the general proportion of the body. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia.
Breast augmentationis among the operations that should be planned individually. Since each woman’s body proportion is different, the breast form she will need also differs. There are two types of prosthesis according to their shape, drop (anatomical) and round. They are also supported by fat injection procedures in accordance with the needs of the person.
Breast Augmentation Preparation Period
Breast augmentation surgery is an operation performed under general anesthesia in a full-fledged hospital. Therefore, patients considering this surgery should be able to meet certain conditions.
For candidates who apply to our clinic for breast augmentation surgery, consultation examination is the first step. The general health status of the candidates is evaluated, their medical history is taken, information about the drugs they regularly use, if any, and certain tests are requested from the patients. The purpose of these examinations is to learn whether the candidate has a medical disability that prevents them from receiving general anesthesia.
During the consultation examination, if the patients stated that they use blood thinners in pill or ready-to-use injection form, they are told that the drugs should be discontinued approximately 10 days before the surgery, within the knowledge of the doctor who prescribed these drugs.
Although breast augmentation surgeries are safe and comfortable operations, it is very important that patients do not use blood thinners during the preparation for surgery, as in any surgical interventions.
We then ask our patients their desired breast form. At this stage, it is very important for the patient candidates to be open and clear to us. When they state exactly what they want without hesitation, the process will proceed more transparently, and surgery planning will be easier. Details such as how much growth will be in the breast form of the patient (size), which type of implant will be used, whether fat injection will be used or not are determined. Surgery planning is done on the photographs of the patients. At this point, if patients request, they can also see before and after photos of our past breast augmentation operations.
If there is no obstacle to the surgery in the results of the examination, the day of surgery is determined.
In addition to blood thinners, if the surgery candidates smoke, it is one of the steps to be taken in the preparation process to stop smoking about 10 days before the operation. The nicotine in cigarettes slows down the regeneration of the skin at the cell level. This may prolong the post-operative healing process. Therefore, it is a good option to take a break from smoking during the preparation period.
Breast augmentation surgery is an operation that requires a 1-day hospital stay. In this 1-day period, you will receive the care you will need, but having a companion from your close circle will help you feel even better.
Breast augmentation surgery is an operation that takes an average of 1.5 hours. You can return to your social life or work by protecting your surgery area from possible traumas within an average of 4-5 days after the operation. However, if you want to spend this renewal process more calmly and resting, taking a 1-week leave from your job would be the right choice.
Breast Augmentation Surgery Day
It is important to ask any questions you might have. This way, we can answer them and you can get rid of your worries. In the hospital room, while our patient is preparing for the surgery, the necessary drawings are made by our doctor in the last stage. Then, while our doctor leaves the room to make his own preparations for the surgery, our patient is taken to the operating room.
After our patient receives anesthesia, the operation area is first sterilized. Then, the breast augmentation surgery protocol, which is planned during the consultation and prepared in accordance with our patient’s own body contours and demands, begins. Since all the details like where the skin incision will be made, which type of implant will be used were determined during the consultation and the necessary drawings were made on the patient just before the operation, the operation is completed in a short time of approximately 1.5 hours.
In the final stage of the operation, the chest area is tightly bandaged to wrap the chest.
After the operation, the patient is awakened and then taken to their room for rest. Since the awakening process progresses differently in each person, this period may be shorter in some patients and longer in others than in other patients.
After a few hours of rest, our patients can eat something light and take a short walk in a controlled manner.
Immediately after the operation, new breast forms may seem large to the patients at first, this is a normal situation. As the edema decreases, the breast form takes its final shape over time.
Wi̇ll There Be Any Scars After Breast Augmentation Plasti̇c Surgery?
Undoubtedly, this scar is one of the most worrying situations about breast augmentation surgeries. First of all, we must say that scarless aesthetic operation is not possible today. All aesthetic operations called scarless are not scarless but operations where the surgical scar is hidden very well. There are also scars in breast augmentation surgery. However, in the operation, skin incisions are made under the breast with the correct measurement and planning, from the point where the body meets the full breast curve. This scar, which can be hidden naturally, is in red and purple tones after the surgery, but becomes similar to the skin tone over time and becomes 99% invisible. We can say that breast augmentation is an almost scarless operation.
Breast Augmentation Plastic Surgery Recovery Time
You can easily return to your social life and daily routines within 4-5 days after breast augmentation surgery, which is a comfortable operation. You need to wear a special surgical bra during the recovery period. Wearing this non-wired bra for about 1 month is very important for your new breast form. This bra will also make it easier for you to do your daily tasks. However, in this process, you should not lift your arms too much, carry heavy weights, and you should protect your chest area from possible traumas and pressures. For example, if you sit in the front seat of the car, wearing a belt will put pressure on your newly formed chest. Therefore, during this period, you should not sit in the front seat of the car or carry grocery bags, etc.
If you have blood thinners that you stopped using before the operation, you can start again by adjusting their doses within the knowledge of the doctor who prescribed them.
Taking a break from smoking in the post-operative period is a step for your body to recover faster.
4-5 days after the operation you can take a shower and do your personal care easily. However, you should not do movements such as scrubbing.
You can return to sports 1 month after the operation, provided that you do not force yourself. In the first month, all sports that require weight or both arm movement and chest strain, such as swimming, are prohibited. You can do sports such as swimming 2 months after the operation. There is a control examination in the 1st week after the operation. In this examination, since your new breast form will be partially freed from edema, a closer view to the planned form is obtained. However, it should be noted that the final result will appear in about 6 months. After the first control, a second session is performed at the 6th month and the final state of the breast form is evaluated.
